Exploring the World of Biology is a lovely book, but it is not a full biology curriculum. It makes a nice supplement, or part of a bigger course. We used it as part of Master Books' Concepts of Medicine & Biology and got through it in about 5 weeks. The book itself is easy to read, full of information, black and white pictures, and it is very interesting and accessible.

My only negative comments are for the accompanying worksheets. They are very easy true/false, fill-in-the-blank and really are not enough for 9th grade. The course is labelled 7th-9th so maybe for 7th they would be ok, but even still, there isn't much in the way of "thinking" questions about the material read, just basic recall. There are suggestions of topics to research and explore. With those added, it's better, but IMO, still not enough for the ages recommended.
