I hate math!!!! I was very nervous about teaching our seventh grader math this year. We had done AOP Horizons through 6th grade and since that is the last grade it is available for we were really floundering when looking for something for 7th grade. I was not impressed with the Lifepac Math but couldn't find anything I liked better. I have to say that I was not thrilled with the way it was laid out or the way the answer key was AT FIRST. The step by step solutions are there for every problem and it seemed annoying. I had to really get used to it but boy, oh boy, as the math got out of the review phase (in the first couple of units) I was so relieved to have those step by step solutions since I had struggled so much with math myself in school.

There are probably better curricula out there for advanced students and teachers, however this is easy to teach, well explained and very comprehensive. If I don't remember the material from when I went to school, I just read through his lesson and look at the answer key at the step by step solutions and very quickly pick up on it again.

My son has a lot of learning disabilities and this was an easy transition for us from Horizons. He is not a Math whiz (the apple apparently doesn't fall far from the tree), but he is really getting this and seems to retain the lessons well.

I have been trying various homeschool curriculums for math and I was using the Alpha Omega Switched on Schoolhouse curriculum for other subjects so I gave this a try. The first obvious problem with using the software is that it can be difficult to work a math problem strictly on computer. There are all of these boxes that your child is supposed to enter numbers into and the instructions are sometimes confusing. There also is very little instruction. Unless your child is very strong in math and doesn't need in depth teaching, I don't recommend this product.

My daughter used to love math, but the public school system left her and many others behind in the 3rd and 4th grades, so we decided to homeschool this year - 5th grade. She loves math again! Simple, direct instruction. This is how you do it - now do it. Easy to understand. Easy to break down - 10 booklets over 36 weeks = math, about 2 pages, 3 x a week. Yea Alpha Omega!

I really like AOP Math. I was able to understand the explinations a lot better with AOP. Also, I like that it reviews what was learned making sure that you don't forget as easily. At first I didn't like it because it seemed as if it was going back and forth, but I realized that my dd and I need reminders, especially with the harder concepts.
