We used Starting Points for 10th grade. It is a spiral bound book which the student writes in as she answers the questions asked. Books read include: Know Why You Believe, Know What You Believe,Mere Christianity, The Deadliest Monster, Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, 2 of the Chronicles of Narnia, and Never Before in History.
This is really a meaty course, suitable for 7th-12th. Many continue on to World Views of the Western World, but my dd is a very concrete thinker and the philosophy in WVWW would bore her. Starting Points mainly shows Christians how to determine the worldview of authors and movie actors. We were assigned to watch the Wizard of Oz and It's a Wonderful Life. I did this study with my dd so we could discuss it. I think I learned as much as her! It's mostly worldview. There is composition instruction, no answer key, no grammar or specific vocab. Kids are instructed to write new words they encounter in a notebook, but there isn't anything specific.
I'd definitely recommend this curriculum.
