I echo ErinD and MayberryMommy...
We have farm chores around here too, but it's usually the exception. I try to keep ds focused on school as much as possible. Extras are only done as possible. It's just too much to get done with high school for us to veer off course too much.

In our house school always gets done...eventually. That is, by the end of a school year all the school work is always completed. However, sometimes it gets put off for a day or two or even a week in order to do "life" things, and then we make up for it later by doubling up.

Extras are also important here, but they're actually considered part of school. For instance, my 11th grade daughter spends many hours a week doing music-related activities (practicing, going to her lesson, going to rehearsals, etc), but she gets high school credit for it.
