Inhisgrip, We had to do something similar. DH had an emergency gallbladder removal and the Anesthiologist was not covered by our insurance, which resulted in a $900 bill. We sent in a letter of appeal, using the wording "emergent nature of the procedure" and were able to get our insurance company to pay the bill as in network provider. Our portion ended up being $25.
