Teething baby

Teething baby

My ds has spent 3 days absolutely miserable with his teeth. Finally 1 of the 4 that he's been working on surfaced, but now I see 2 more places that are swollen. I've tried everything I can think of Tylenol, Motrin, popscicles, wet washcloths, teething rings, etc... Nothing seems to bring much relief. I refuse to try Orajel ( my dd6 had an allergic reaction to it as a baby). What are some of your tricks you've used? It makes me so sad to see him hurting.

re: Teething baby

this is what I used with every one of our four babies for teething and it beat EVERYTHING for comfort, rest. etc.: Benadryl elixir.

the bottle doesn't have a dose for a child less than 2 years, but i gave our kids 1/2 teaspoon. They would sleep soundly and awaken refreshed and feeling so much better. I am RN...this is safe! I guarantee you..try it!

re: Teething baby

Take martinbeef's advice. What she says is gold. :)

martinbeef, it seems too bad that nowadays doctors can't give the "paregoric" (not sure if I'm spelling that correctly) that they could when I was a baby. My parents would just get it on their fingertip and rub it across the gums, and they said it is very relieving. But for some reason it is no longer used.
