We had one a while ago and then found out another one had come in somehow. I did get that one (sorry I didn't update!) and am setting traps in case there are more - there was waaay too much 'poop' for just one! Anyway, it's par for the course at this time of yr. Someone on the other thread had mentioned peppermint, I believe. I am going to look into that for next yr to put around the house in general.

as far as the cat goes, some do get them and some don't care, just like dogs.

We've been over run with mice this year but only 3 have made it into the house. We have 8 cats and we see atleast one cat a day with a mouse.
added...The cats are outside cats we don't have 8 cats in the house, yuck.

Yuck, I hate mice in the house! But once again, we're staring to see a few in the house at this time of year (as it's getting cooler outside). The funny thing is that they seem to enjoy hanging out in the room that we use as a schoolroom...that's where we've spotted them the most. Maybe they want to be homeschooled too. ;)
Our dog and one of our cats (the sweetest in the bunch, but one that insists on being a mouse hunter) chased and killed one mouse in the living room a few weeks ago. Then, we've also laid a few traps throughout the house. But then my curious 3-year old dd decided she would step in one to see what it was. I found out the hard way that sticky goo stuff (from the mouse trap) sure is hard to scrub off little feet that step where they shouldn't.

Eeek!! Those little guys really freak me out! When We bought a house in the middle of the woods this year I didn't realize it came with creatures. I found a dead mouse in the garage and went a little nuts! :) That day I went out and bought a dozen traps, adopted 2 cats and called pest control. Just A little overkill, huh? To be fair, we also had chipmunks burrowing along the foundation, hundreds of carpenter ant hills covering the yard, multiple wasps nests, etc.... So, pest control was kind of necessary IMHO. Now if we could find someone rather inexpensively to take care of the squirrels in the attic!
