minnie - that is funny - I see that out here in SOCAL too.
Raised in Church of Christ but always said I am non-denominational b/c that is how our church presented it - imagine my confusion later when I heard United Church of Christ and so on...but I accepted Christ as my savior during this time. Attended Bible Chapel for a time - I guess non-denominational Bible church but used an organ (a big step for no musical instruments in church childhood) and head covering for women in church and a few times at what some people would call a holy roller but I think it was more non-denominational and evangelical and maybe closest to pentecostal? (sp?). Now - we go back and forth between two - Both are non-denominational and evangelical although one no longer has Baptist in the name (minnie!) but it is considered American Baptist (is that right Becky?).

I grew up non-denom and attended a very-large southern baptist university during my college years where I ended up being baptized as an Episcopal. I started attended the Episcopal college group because they served free food on Sunday evenings.

Raised in a traditional Southern Baptist Church. Still a Baptist, although the title is not what is important. I am a Christian. No title will or church denomination will get you into heaven, so I think it would be "cool minnie too" if all churches dropped their "titles" and just preached Gods word. All of Gods word, not just the happy feel good syrup stuff a lot of churches are preaching now. My husband used to be Church of Christ, but I had to convert him because I enjoy music too much to give it up. lol.
I think the same thing about the government. If we didn't have democrats, republicans, or independants, then the votes wouldn't be divided "along party lines". People could vote for who they wanted without the pressure of "voting for a title group".

DH & I were both raised as Jehovah's Witnesses, and we are still Jehovah's Witnesses.
