and is it what you were raised in?

I think we did this on hear a year or two ago, but thought it would be fun to do again with more and new people. I was raised in the faith I am in, but dh was not. A lady from my church said something to me tonight, and I thought it would be interesting to see about others. So what faith were you raised in, and what are you now?

We'll go to any church with an awesome, get-down, contemporary Christian rock band. Otherwise, we're not picky. We happen to be going to a Baptist Church at the moment, but since it's become uncool to say "Baptist", the church removed that from its official name.

Why is it uncool to say Baptist? This is a new one on me. If you are talking about one of the ones that have started allowing those with *alternate lifestyles* preach I could see not wanting to be associated with the title.

I don't like being associated with any title other than Christian cuz I don't fit any of them. But I do agree with the basic doctrine of the So. Baptist. I have seen too much watering down (in different churches) of the gospel and infiltration of the Masons that I don't really care much for church anymore. But I adore my Saviour.

Grew up in a Methodist church, went to an Episcopalian school, then went to a Baptist church, back to the Methodist, over to the Presbyterians for a while, now back at the Methodist- but at a Contemporary outreach service. I teach Bible studies and am the lead singer in the Praise band. My ds 15 is the keyboard player and I think it is cool that we can do this together. My ds 12 just went through Confimation.

DH has always been with the Methodists, although he went about 30 years away from church- he has his roots there.

Raised: a mix of United Church of Canada (similar to Methodist) and Catholic.

Now: non-denomination. Since becoming a Christian at 15 1/2, I've been to Baptist, Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, AG churches. I consider the one we go to, to be more non-denomination...

When I say, "uncool to be Baptist", I'm being facetious because the new norm around here is to remove the denomination from the church name.

For example, a formerly First United Methodist Church might be renamed First Church, or Living Church or whatever. It was hard for us to initially find a church because of this. We didn't want to accidentally walk into a commune or something. LOL!

Raised Baptist, always been Baptist.
