Some people hang their towels on the clothes line, and then put them in the dry for 5 minutes or so to soften them up. To me, it seems most of the energy is expended in the first five minutes of the dryer heating up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now when I am hanging out clothes I just take them in just as they are. The roughness goes away shortly after use has begun...so why? Consider it a great exfoliator..hehe
But here is the trick: Turn the dryer off of heat and onto fluff. No heat involved.

I actually prefer my towels a bit crunchy, too. I think they absorb better. I'm just curious about how much money is actually saved when you pop them in the dryer for 5 minutes, versus letting them dry all the way in the dryer.
