Third update at the end.

re: Endoscope update.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear the results of the scan. No wonder she's been in such pain! My heart goes out to her (and to you, 'cause when a dc suffers, Mom suffers too).

This may seem too obvious, but is she drinking soft drinks? They often irritate or cause high acidic content. So can some fruit drinks, especially oj.

For indigestion, have you tried letting her drink baking soda water to reduce/diffuse stomach acid? IIRC, it's 1/4 tsp. to a half cup water. I've done this a few times, using warm water, and it gave me quick and wonderful relief when nothing else did.

re: Endoscope update.

Dd was in emergency room all night. They decided to do CT with contrast from the neck all the way down through her belly. Good news that they didn't see any appendix, gallbladder, pancreas problems. Oodles of blood tests were done as well. They've decided to take her off one of her meds for possible reaction. Still meeting with DR this week to go over all tests.

Definitely need a nap today.

re: Second update.

skimmed over this again and someone said something that brought up a memory about dd. Then, your post.

Can you see how full her bowels are? Her intestines? We found out dd had bladder reflux when she was struggling with leaking. She has NEVER had a bladder infection so we had absolutely no clue about the reflux. When we went to the specialist, she did something that most of them, even in her specialty, didn't do. She checks the intestines - because a lot of times, she has found that those who struggle w/ the bladder issues can also have issues with bowel movements.

We had to clean her out and she took meds to help her with regularity. Before and during the process, we also noticed that she would always feel sick to her stomach after eating, which cleared up when we did the clean-out, and subsequent ones if she hadn't been regular.

It was a simply thing to check on the x-ray/scan they did, so it certainly couldn't hurt to ask about. Or, if it's not an issue, then don't worry about it. Just a thought to share because you never know what will trigger a question/thought.

I am praying for some answers and healing.

K

Praying for wisdom for the doctors and relief for your dd and the rest of your family.

re: Second update.

oh no.....your poor daughter. I feel awful for her. I know you must be very worried and frustrated as well.

I hope she is doing better today?

I am praying you get some answers from her Dr this week.....((hugs)) to her.

re: Second update.

Prayers for her. My daughter's GI doctor is trying to figure hers out now, too. I hope your daughter is feeling better soon.

re: Second update.

and yet another update.

The problems we went in for , are completely different than the problems that came up during testing. So we were dealing with two different things.

When we ended up in the ER with sever pain in her back and stomach, I told them that I felt it was the Carafate. After a CAT scan , blood tests, and talking with the doctor on call, I suggested again that I felt it was the Carafate. The on call DR says that few people have that kind of pain with this medication. I guess dd did. I have never seen her in this much pain in her life. So then they decided to put her on Gaviscon(sp). It made her really really nauseous . Understand that Gaviscon has a high aluminum content.

The doctor doesn't know why his on call doctor put dd on that. He showed me online that Gaviscon list of ingredients has the most abundant ingredient listed as an inactive ingredient to get it by FDA. So now she is off of that.

So for now, she has nothing coating or protecting her stomach. She is on the Prevacid once a day and Pepcid twice a day just to reduce stomach acid ( they still have not figured out why she is producing so much. So we have to be really really careful with what she eats , so there is no more damage done. He said that it will now take her longer to heal.

The past couple of days she has gotten her appetite back a little, but I have to read every ingredient in everything and I have to make all of her food from scratch and make modifications.

So this is it for now. They will see her in January or unless I need to see them before that. If I can get her healed, I think I'm going to look up my holistic DR and see what he can do. Prevacid is a nasty drug .

I don't bring in soda into the house. The only time there is soda in my house is if there are people over and that's it. She's not an OJ drinker either. Her condition is bothered by foods, but was not caused by foods. Hope that makes sense.
