HELP! Crayons went through the dryer!!

HELP! Crayons went through the dryer!!

Ds left two restaurant crayons in his cargo shorts pocket, and I did not discover it until pulling the clothing out of the dryer!!!! Everything, and I mean, EVERYTHING, is covered in red and blue! Am I going to be able to get this out?! Goo gone?? We are using Goo Gone grill cleaner to clean out the dryer, but I am scared to spray it on the clothes. HELP!

BTW, it is ds's 10th b-day today, so I am trying not to freak out on him too much, Lol.

re: HELP! Crayons went through the dryer!!

I'd take them straight to the dry cleaners or try the "Dear Heloise" site. Sorry, I can't help much, but I can tell you I've ruined at least a million loads of clothes over crayons.

re: HELP! Crayons went through the dryer!!

Sorry! This has never happened to me, but I searched and found this method listed in a couple of places:

--The best way to remove a crayon stain is with WD-40 (also effective at removing crayon from walls). Spray WD-40 on both sides of the crayon stain. Let the solution sit for 3-5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
Rub dishwashing liquid into the stained area with a clean cloth, changing sections of the cloth as the crayon stain begins to bleed away. Repeat until the crayon is removed.

Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray to the crayon stain. Let sit for 3-5 minutes.--

Wash in the hottest water that the fabric can safely tolerate.--

This seems pretty labor intensive. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion. Good luck!!

Edited to add: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SON!!

try Goo Gone. it works on stuff like that.

re: HELP! Crayons went through the dryer!!

I've managed to salvage most of the clothing. Whew! I called dh at work, and he brought home 3 spray bottles of goo gone. I used every bit of it, and when I ran out of that I used most of our Orange Glo cleaner. I re-washed the clothes in hot, extra-sudsy water, and then pulled them out one by one respraying and scraping stubborn areas. I then re-washed them in the same fashion - hot and extra-sudsy. I'm getting ready to go check the results....crossing fingers. The dryer itself survived. I dried a load of dog-washing towels first, and they only picked up a couple tiny pieces of crayon. I'm hoping we got it all. Thanks for all the tips and pointers.

Remind your dc to never, EVER put crayons in their pockets!!!!!!

Hugs! We've had this happen before and it is awful. Sadly, I was the one that left a purple crayon in my pocket, ugh.

So glad you got most of it out!
