I want to keep Math simpler this year. I have used Spectrum before in some subjects and it has been hit and miss. Just wondering if this would be enough as my Math for the year, or do I need more to supplement it?
TIA

I, personally, would not think it would be enough without some supplementing.

I did this with my daughter for 5th grade. I thought it was okay and at the time she hated math with a capital H. Last year we switched to CLE and it was such a blessing. No more tears and frustration. The only thing was she tested low in the placement test. I have read that this happens a lot so I'm not really sure if it was due to the year of using only Spectrum, the fact that she just hated math and it wasn't sticking or that CLE just teaches different concepts at different levels. I wish for us that I would have started CLE instead of Spectrum. Due to the frustration and tears that we went through. Hope you find a good fit for your family :O)

I am actually debating between CLE or something like Spectrum!!!! Maybe CLE would be better.....

We have used Saxon, ACE, Spectrum and CLE. WIth our daughter CLE was the one and only that clicked. Now she doesn't complain about math at all. Nice thing about CLE is that you can buy just a few light units and see if it is a good fit for your kids. Just a thought :O) Also on CLE when she has something mastered then I choose either even problems or odd rather than her doing the entire page. This has been really exciting for her as she knows that once she has mastered something she has less of that type problem. Helps with her confidence in math so much. If you decide to go with CLE I have a 4th grade score key like new 401-405 that you can have for just the shipping cost if you would like.

I am using Spectrum Math 7 for my sixth grader - there will be some lessons - but this is her fun living-math year.
