Is there something like Teaching textbooks for primary math?

Thanks!

re: Is there something like Teaching textbooks for primary math?

I've heard that TT is about to come out with their 3rd grade level VERY soon...if you can wait a couple more months. (I heard beginning of the year?...you'd have to check with them).

I think the years before 3rd grade really need some adult/teacher involvement, as most 1st/2nd graders are not ready for independent learning. (JMHO :)...Even AOP doesn't offer their SOS program before 3rd grade for this reason.

I haven't used it myself, but does Time4Learning offer primary levels of math teaching on the computer?

Those are my initial thoughts.

I don't think I have seen any. I agree that it is important for those young children, K-3rd, to have that interaction with the parent, to make sure the child GETS it before moving on. Those years are the stable base of the math pyramid, and key to the child's math development later on. Probably most online/CD based maths don't start offering until 4th or later, as the child should have a stable base at that point.

TT 3 is coming out in December, I've had contact with the company. The placement test is on the website now.

My 8 yo is asking for this for Christmas ;-)

Prior to that I don't know of any resources that are the same for earlier grades. My dd will probably be going from CLE 1 with a few months work in multiplication work into TT3... She can already pass the placement test for the most part.

I will be sitting with her for the lecture and a portion of the problems as I am not sure she can work independantly. WE will use Calculadder to drill/learn the multiplication facts in conjunction.

Oh I would totally do the math along with them (not looking to hand over to someone else) but it'd be nice to be able to do it along with them. Does that make sense?

I found one called System math but not sure if anyone has used it here and can give me feedback.
I gave a link for it in a new post but I'll share it here too:

Thanks Melissa
edited to add: I just went ahead and ordered it. For $28 including shipping for a 3 year program I felt it was worth a shot. : )

You might take a look at the CD-Rom math by Chalkdust for elementary grades--I think it starts with 3rd grade.
