Help! I don't understand all the abbreviations!

Help! I don't understand all the abbreviations!

Can someone please tell me what all the abbreviations mean? I try to read the discussions that are going on, but I can't get the full meaning with all the MFW, DH, DD, ds, dds, etc. KWIM (I figured that one out!)

Sorry for my ignorance. :-)

re: Help! I don't understand all the abbreviations!

dh - dear husband
ds - dear son
dd - dear daughter

I'm not sure about MFW except I know that it's a curriculum.

HTH (Hope that helps),
Alisa R.

I know some of them, but there are definitely some out there that still stump me.
Here is your list:
MFW- My Father's world (It is a curriculm, www.mfwbooks.com)
DH- Dear Husband
DD- Dear Daughter
DS- Dear Son
KWIM- Know what I mean

dds- is either Dear Daughter and Son or Dear DaughterS, I am not sure. ;-)

re: Help! I don't understand all the abbreviations!

Well for curriculum there is:
MOH : mystery of history
SOTW: story of the world
FIAR: five in a row
BFIAR: before five in a row or beyond five in a row
LLATL: learning language arts through literature

For regualr conversation:
FWIW: for what its worth
JMO/JMHO: just my opinion/ just my honest opinion
IOW: in other words
HTH: hope that helps
LOL: laugh out loud
YMMV: your mileage may vary

If you do a google search you can find lots more.

re: Help! I don't understand all the abbreviations!

By the way, the ds (dear son) and dd (dear daughter) are often used in place of a child's name for privacy and safety reasons.

So, in talking about your son John Smith who is 12 and attends Hawk Elem. school in your hometown of Anywhere, USA you might type:

"My 12 year old ds in in 6th grade at our ps. We live in a very rurul area and he is having trouble making friends...andy suggestions?"

No name, location or even school name are listed, but you still can descibe you child and location and situation. ps is public school

HTH (Hope that helps!)
