This is the concept of Jeannie Fulbright's science books. One topic over a period of time.

CM methods are definitely slow teaching.

I haven't read the article yet, but I do agree with slowing down academics, even to the point Ruth Beechick suggested, that American middle class children don't need preschool or kindergarten, and that children can skip a math text till 3rd grade (or beyond, if the family can do it). I like the idea of pacing the history for longer studies, not just two or four years, maybe introducing history later for students.
